+ I CAN ANSWER TOO! Used the Avignon 6 plus on 4 occasions now but have been unable to set up with the wind flaps tucked under the sides (as shown in pictures of the tent) thus giving maximum protection from wind/rain. It is almost as if the poles are too long(?) and have been caught out twice by very strong winds lifting out the pegs on the front and then lifting the front pannels. Any ideas from anyone would be very much appreciated.
DrSlugs replied: I peg mine out putting the \'wind flaps\' outwards, ie. to let the water drain away from the tent. I\'m more used to these being called storm valences and putting rocks or snow on them (mountaineering camping). Last time I also put pegs through the actual flaps material and the whole thing took on an almost airtight feeling.
How about purchasing a few of those screw-in pegs? They\'re just the job for putting out the front and back and once in, the rope will break in preference to the peg lifting out. They look like 10 inch corkscrews and are sold in camping shops. I use four or five and once my Avignon 6 is pegged it feels like a bomb shelter.
+ I CAN ANSWER TOO! water column 3000 what is it and is it water proof
DrSlugs replied: Sure, the single skin outer is waterproof - I think the \'water column 3000\' means that you can take the fabric from which it is made, and apply water pressure to 3000mm (the height of the column of water) and it won\'t leak. I guess this is a industry standard way of saying that rain doesn\'t come through...
Ours certainly didn\'t leak, and the bedrooms are double skinned anyway.
This is a really satisfactory, modern family tent. With three large rooms all having sewn-in floor, lots of internal room, and a clean design the tent feels like the best in family camping. Add a soft groundsheet like some of the eco-friendly ones now on the market and it feels like home. Thoroughly enjoyable and a great holiday for a larger family.
