+ I CAN ANSWER! Hi Jockmcallister, I m thinking of buying an Olympus for travelling around South America, I was wondering if you have tried out the new tent you were sent yet? Is it ok? Any feedback would be great.
Cheers
I\'ve had my olympus for about 9 months and it\'s seen alot of bad weather including a force 9 gale in Sutherland. It was extremely strong and hardly budged all night. I like the deep pockets, space and ease of erecting, however the problems kiwijay states are a real issue. Because of the rear door design water can def leak throu into the inner tent. My tent had a faulty rear door in which the material didn\'t repel the water so it just soaked throu.
Macpac replaced the tent swifly and ensured me that it was a one off. I haven\'t yet tested the new tent in the wet.
Despite this problem i still like the Olympus but i would still prefer the older design.
9/10
This tent is crap. The fly zip over the rear entry sits directly over the internal tent inner and when it rains water drips onto the zip and leaks onto the inner which then saturates and comes into the tent. This was never a problem with the previous design with dual vestibules. You can no longer pitch just the inner and have lost the multi pitch fuction of the original tent. The new fabric is nice, but still not seam sealed.
The one thing i do like about the new design is the colour.
Macpac..... your making crapsacs!
