+ I CAN ANSWER TOO! Ms Clean. asked : How do i re-waterproof the fly after washing it?
Andy Hayes replied: Use Fabsil. It\'s great. I proof all my tents with this. If you have washed it in detergent you will have stripped the water repellant coating off the fabric, and left detergent impregnated into the fabric. If you really have done this, then you need to wash it with a non-detergent cleaner such as the one made by Nikwax then rinse as many times as you can with plain water, to get rid of the detergent residue, before drying then reproofing. Clean out your washing machine before using it by removing and rinsing the detergent drawer then running a hot wash with an old towl and NO detergent. Then reset the temp to a max of 40 degrees. Don\'t worry, this will definitely reproof it.

madmax replied: well you can\'t if you washed it with soap - it likely ruined. tents aren\'t designed to be washed with soap. perhaps if you like it that clean, maybe indoors would be best....hmmm
+ I CAN ANSWER!   nzl asks : I have had oine for a while and never really used it, but am about to use it and was wondering which pole(s) needed shortened? Was it the blue one for the fly or one of the gold ones? From putting it up and a couple of mates have used it over in europe it seems to be good, it is about ot get a going over through africa so hope it holds out.
hellboy says : Owned this tent for close to 10 years now, and love it. A great, size and designed, has served me well in a wide range of weather conditions.

CaptainStuWalker says : A sturdy and dry haven at the end of a long day hiking. Plenty of peg loops to secure the tent in bad weather and very waterproof. Many clever design features - like doors that hinge from the top, so when you open them they don\'t fall on the floor and get dirty or wet. Two areas for storing gear, packs, boots etc etc undercover (one storage area for each person too). Good vents / windows keep condensation levels down (if you remember to open them!) Poles are easily shortened and avoid the strain mentioned. I didn\'t need to cut off 75mm, so I recommend you only cut them down 5mm at a time so you don\'t make them too short. People in the know will have already done this soon after they bought the tent. ;) Highly recommended tent.

Barley says : I purchased one of the last Assault II tents in New Zealand before Fairydown ceased as a business. I was at first impressed by the tents stability in rough weather and its impressive waterproof qualities after I was flooded out one wet and stormy night. Unfortunately the tent was not simple to erect. The poles appeared too long and within a season or two the various pole support sockets began to tear under the strain. I had the tent repaired and strengthened and shortened each of the poles myself by 75mm. I believe, had the poles provided been suitable, this would have been a first rate tent.
