Exped Vela II Extreme

For lightweight backpacking and cycle touring etc this tent is excellent though there is no room to fit a bike in the tent porches. The unusual tent doors with no zippers work remarkably well and never catch like zips often do. The guy lines come with stow away pockets which keep the guys out of the way when packing or pitching the tent. Unfortunately the stability of the tent is compromised due to the higher than normal guyline position on the main pole (this is due to the door layout and design). There is very good ventilation in the tent and this can easily be regulated as required. The flysheet is of exceptional quality and although very thin is very strong. There are pockets on the inside for storage as well as hanging points and the ventilation door can be partially opened and used for extra storage if required. The tent relies heavily on two good peging points, one at each end of the tent. I would recomend using thicker pegs one these such as MSR blizzard, snow stakes etc unless the ground is very hard. The tent is suitable for tall people as it is very long inside.
