+ I CAN ANSWER TOO! Stevo asked : I’d love to know of the Akto-like Vela is really as neat and useful as it seems.
Steve C replied: I have one and found it a little coffin like inside . It would be good to have the mid hop more over the head area like the hilleberg Atko so that the head has more space. There is a bit of an art putting it up and I am still trying to master. Have not had it in heavy weather but certainly in sub zero and windy areas and it went well. This said , I am still ok with this tent as it is very light and the vestibule is a real asset.

Vela I Extreme: Enter... the new Zipfree door.
An ultralight, spacious shelter in a quick setup design, featuring Exped‘s innovative, Zipfree door.

Chasing the absolute minimum, Exped introduces the zipfree entrance: Vela’s door just slides up the pole : no zipper; less weight; sturdier; and easier to use. In addition, the 1 person Vela vents well, sets up fast, is aerodynamic and multi-functional! (patent pending)

Capacity: 1-2 adults
Weight: Minimum: 3.0 # / 1.4 kg; Packaged: 3.8 # / 1.75 kg
Area: Floor: 18 ft2 / 1.7 m2; Vestibule: 11 ft2 / 1.0 m2
Materials:
Rainfly: 2-sided, silicone coated ripstop nylon with Flat pole sleeves
Canopy: Ripstop polyester with No-See-Um Mesh
Floor: PU-coated, taffeta nylon
Poles: DAC Featherlite SL 7001-T6, 9 mm & 8.84 mm
Packed size: 16x4“ / 42x10 cm
Setup time: 1.5 minutes
Colors: Green and Terracotta

New Zipfree door: just pull the cord to raise the door - no zipper to snag or admit water. Of course - saves weight! And without the obvious entrance, Vela I offers improved safety from quick robberies of opportunity.

Quick setup: slide the single, central arch through its Flat pole sleeve and seat the ends into grommets. Seat the end poles and pull tight with stakes.Vela‘s V-shaped guy line configurations allow it to be set up almost anywhere, even on non-level ground.
